Wake Me Up
I am not Japanese. I have a wife who is Japanese, and of course, my child is half-Japanese, but I lay no personal claim to the people or the culture. I have been immersed in the Westernized version of the Japanese culture though, and there's plenty to be appreciative for.
One thing I've found interesting is how Japanese fashion often includes branding or phrasing that seems to have no direct relation to a specific idea—but uses words that seem to sound interesting together. Everything is aesthetics and I dig that.
This poster didn't start out as an homage to that idea, but the further along I went, the more it started to appear to me, so I went with the flow, and this is what came of it.
This piece is one of a series of abstract digital art prints mixing geometry, typography, and abstract shapes.
