Chaos Takes Practice

$ 125.00

It was early 2015 and I was ready to sit back down at my art table and do some serious work. I had this grand plan of making art that encompassed elements of all my experience and internal influences.

I wanted to make work that spoke to people, but was also brave, and stirred the pot a bit. I wanted to deviate from my own preconceived notions about what I thought I was capable of creating.

I wanted to break shit, and have people appreciate the destruction.

The plans of men have often been thwarted by circumstances beyond their control, and that's how my art was progressing. The work I wanted to create was not coming out like I wanted. The technique was solid, but the execution never resulted in quite the level of destruction I desired.

"Chaos takes practice," is a mantra and soon embraced, because it perfectly represented how I felt about my work. Instead of hating what was produced, I relished the opportunity to learn from it. In order to get the level of breakage I desired, I needed to break more things. The more I destroyed, the better I would get at my powers of destruction.

I can't say that I've mastered the level of chaos I desire, but each new piece is a tribute to that journey. This piece is a tribute to that tribute.
