This is a deep question, but if you could change the dimension of your world, make it more dynamic in someway, what would that look like?
When I made this piece, it started out very 2-dimensional, which was fine in the moment. However, I decided to turn it around, just to see what would happen, and the peace took on an entirely new life for me. I made no further changes except add that little bit of text and sign my name, but the simple idea of rotating the image change the entire perspective for me and gave this vastly different feel.
how does that work? What is it in our brains, or perhaps the wire between what we see and what we think we see, that makes it so easy to fool us simply by moving something around?
It’s a fascinating question to me and makes me wonder if I should ever put anything on my art that distinguishes one side is up versus down, because what I see may not be what the collector sees.
